Why Djokovic lost the world no.1 rank. BECKER

Boris Becker has been a crucial figure in Novak Djokovic’s team for the last few years, and he has it clear why the Serb struggled in the second part of this season to lose his world no.1 rank to Andy Murray.

According to the German legend, Nole’ overall performance went south after he achieved one of the most important goals of his career: winning the Roland Garros.

Boris revealed that

“Naturally, his motivation was a bit off afterward [winning the French Open]. He really didn’t know what the next big goal would be.”

Then Becker added that Djokovic lost his direction also after he wasn’t competing anymore against his top rivals.

“He didn’t have any opponents anymore,” commented. “His time was with Nadal, with Federer. Andy was always the fourth guy. So, he lost a little bit of his opponents. Murray is showing something he hasn’t shown before.”
