Andy Murray and David Ferrer will fight for a place in the Vienna final.
Murray
In quarters, Andy dismissed John Isner 6-1 6-3 in just 75 minutes. The Brit broke Isner 4 times with the American unable to cope with Murray’s tennis also because he was struggling with blisters on his right hand that favored the world n.2. Andy admitted
“It obviously helped me as from the back of the court he wasn’t really generating much power with his forehand. I was then able to dictate most points from the back of the court. I think I returned pretty good, though. It was important to put him under a bit of pressure, especially from the beginning of the match.”
Ferrer
Now ranked world no.19, David is having a rather lousy season for his standards, but he is still playing a good tennis in Vienna where he is the defending champion. The Spaniard had to dig deep in the quarters against Troicki after he was 3-5 down in the decider. Ferrer’s never die attitude helped him to win the last four games of the match. The Spaniard won the encounter 6-3 3-6 7-5.
The head to head
Murray leads Ferrer 14-6, 5-1 on indoor hard courts. Andy has won the last seven matches against David.
