It seems that the couple always wanted to keep their relationship a secret as both had denied their affair in the past. Also, prior to this, they had no images in social media until this recent revelation.
The couple has never been open about their relationship in public. Radu Barbu had even communicated to his friends that they are not a couple and there is nothing romantic between the two. There are a lot of common grounds between Halep and Radu which makes the relationship more obvious.

34 year old, Radu is a Romanian tennis player. Barbu is from Pitesti and Halep from Constanta which clearly shows the Romanian connection they share. Barbu had held his career highest rank 1151 in ATP rankings in the year 2004.
Radu Barbu had moved to coach tennis players in Texas Christian University as his career came to a standstill. Radu being friends with many Romanian players which also includes Halep’s former coach Andrei Mlendea who is suspected as the source of their connection and assumed to be the reason they met.
Radu Barbu’s colleague Dave Borelli holds a high opinion of him saying “I’m really excited to have Radu as part of our team. Radu was such an important part of our team chemistry last season, as we were 1-7 without him in the line-up and 9-5 when he returned to our line-up. Not only was his play a factor in our success, but also his presence. He’ll be a big help for our team this season.”
SpyNews which is a Romanian website had released several photos of them vacationing at Portofino, Italy. The two seemed to have bonded together for the love they share with the game of tennis. SpyNews had also reported that they had probably started dating after 2017 US Open when Barbu was a coach in the Texas Christian University.
