Feliciano Lopez triumphs in Gstaad

Feliciano Lopez wins his 5th career title in Gstaad.

The Spaniard had a rather busy week in Switzerland to win the tournament after 4 hard fought matches. In the final, Feliciano defeated Robins Haase 6-4 7-5. This is the first single title that the Spaniard has won on clay; Feliciano lost 10 years ago the final in Gstaad against Gasquet.

It’s amazing winning this tournament after 10 years

Feliciano commented “It’s an amazing feeling, I’ve been waiting 10 years to win this title. It’s been a long wait since 2006, but it’s been worth it. This is a very special tournament, with a lot of tradition, where a lot of Spaniards have won in the past. It’s a unique place to play.”

After this win, Lopez joins a long list of illustrious Spaniards that have conquered this title (Sanchez, Bruguera, Costa, Mantilla, Corretja, Almagro, Granollers, and Andujar).
