Zverev reveals his personal problems for his shock exit from Wimbledon

Zverev personal dilemma leads to a loss in the 1st round

The shocking exit of the 6th seeded tennis star Alexander Zverev from the Wimbledon first round came as a huge shock for tennis enthusiast and legends all over the world. The 108th seeded Jiri Veseley from the Czech Republic defeated Zverev 4-6 6-3 6-2 7-5 in the first round of Wimbledon.

The world no.5 who has defeated tennis legends like that of Federer and Djokovic in ATP finals seemed to struggle against Jiri from the start of the game. Zverev has been profoundly expected by tennis legends like Boris Becker to be one of the few talents from the young generation who would take the game to the next level. But this shocking exit from the first round of the Wimbledon has sent those expectations into wild disarray.

Is Zverev in grave personal crisis?

It is believed that the player is in grave crisis as he himself told to the media in a Wimbledon press conference that he is suffering from zero self-confidence at present. The number of off-court distractions for the player has taken a toll on his game big time. The player had split with his former agent Patricio Apey which appears to have involved millions of dollars. It had something to do with the behaviour of the agent against Zverev.

As the German himself had said that he was surprised by the behaviour of a person whom he regarded as a close aid would try to inflict harm to him and it made him very angry about it. This seemed to be in reference to his agent’s behaviour that had caused him great harm and affected his self-belief system. This affected his confidence greatly and has affected his last 8 majors where he has produced very poor results. We expect a very talented player to brush up and stand up to everyone’s expectations very soon.

Zverev expressed his agony in the following words:

“I am very mad about it because it’s a person who was very involved in my life during the last few years and now he’s trying to make my life as hard as possible. Purposely, right before big tournaments like this. Why hs doing that?…

What’s happening right now is absurd. I’m not allowed to say, anything official, it is simply absurd and it hurts me because this person was very close to my life. I thought we were friends, I thought we were close, not only at the job, and to do stuff like that on purpose is beyond my understanding. Why and how one can even do that as a normal human being, it is beyond imagination.”
