It’s not usual for an ATP250 to have 2 Grand Slam champions battling in the final. This is what has happened in Geneva where home favorite Stan Wawrinka will clash with Marin Cilic for the title.
Wawrinka
Stan reached the final after defeating Rosol 6-2 4-6 6-3. That was the only struggle of the week because, during his run in Geneva, Stan had to beat Ramos-Vinolas 6-1 6-1 and Carreno-Busta 6-3 6-1.
Cilic
Marin had a more difficult draw in Geneva to beat Gulbis 6-4 7-6 (5), clay court specialist Delbonis 6-4 6-3, and an always dangerous David Ferrer in the semifinal 7-5 7-5.
Head to head Wawrinka – Cilic
Stan leads Marin 9-2, 4-0 on clay courts. The Swiss is the favorite to win the title. Wawrinka has won 13 titles in his career (2 this year); Cilic has 14 titles.
