In an on-court interview after his Round 3 victory at the 2024 US Open against Flavio Cobolli, Daniil Medvedev discussed the challenges of assessing his opponent’s game during their match, which was affected by the hot and humid conditions.
Medvedev mentioned that Cobolli started playing better on his serve, making the match tricky. The Russian player also acknowledged the unexpected crowd involvement during the match, which added to the excitement. Despite being aware of the upsets in the previous rounds, Medvedev maintained his focus on playing his best tennis to win the tournament. Looking ahead, he expressed respect for Nuno Borges, whom he has faced before, and acknowledged that the Portuguese player is a tough opponent due to his power and aggressiveness.

Now the world no.5, the Russian has an overall 38-13 win-loss record in 2024. Daniil is now competing at the U.S. Open where he overcame the world no.66 Dusan Lajovic 6-3 3-6 6-3 6-1, the world no.51 Fabian Marozsan 6-3 6-2 7-6(5) and the world no.31 Flavio Cobolli 6-3 6-4 6-3.
Daniil Medvedev will come up against the world no.34 Nuno Borges in the 4th round. Their actual head to head record is 2-0 for Medvedev.
Daniil was the finalist at the Australian Open and in Indian Wells (BNP Paribas Open).
