Tomic retires after 8 minutes in Rome

Bernard Tomic is not well-known for his “never give up” attitude. The Australian has been accused many times of tanking, and he was heavily criticized after he refused to play a match point against Fognini in Madrid. Tomic has also made history for losing the fastest match in pro tennis after bowing to Nieminen in just 28 minutes.

Tomic is now at the center of another weird episode for retiring in the Rome 1st round after just 8 minutes when he was leading 2-1 against Paire.

Tomic. I was very tired

The Australian commented “I couldn’t play with the heat. I felt so, so bad and I felt like I was going to collapse. It was the best thing for me to do to retire. The main thing is to get it out of my system.”

Never give up… ever!
