Bernard Tomic has done one of the worst things an athlete should never do: giving up a match … just because he could. This is what has happened in Madrid when the Australian pretended to return a match point against Fognini.

Tomic’s behavior goes against every value that all the Olympians live by

Chef de Mission for Australia for Rio 2016, Kitty Chiller, described Tomic’s behavior as “appalling” to add “I think it was appalling behavior. It goes against every value that all the Olympians live by, it goes against everything that we’ve been trying to build in this team, I would not want to see any of our Olympic team members behave in that way.”

The Australian Olympic Committee is the one to decide the nominations, but at this point it is highly probable that Tomic won’t be part of the team. Sooner or later someone in Australia should send a strong message across for the good of the sport.
