Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jeremy Chardy faced each other in the 2nd round of the Fever-Tree Championships.
Tsitsipas could have been another big name casualty in the tournament when Jeremy Chardy came within 3 points to win the set and the match but the Greek fought back and managed to reach the quarterfinals of the Fever-Tree Championships.
The Greek beat Chardy 4-6 7-6(0) 7-6(4) in 2 hours and 38 minutes.
The Match
In the first set, Chardy broke in the 5th game and took the set by 6-4.
In the second set of the match, Tsitsipas and Chardy broke once and the set was decided in the tiebreak which the Greek won 7-6(0).
In the decider, Chardy was 2-4 down but made a comeback in the set leading 5-4. The set was a hard fought one with both the players creating 2 breaks on each other’s serve. The set was decided in the tie-break which was won by the Greek star 7-6(4).
The Greek will now face Felix Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals.
