Querrey advances, Blake falls – 2012 US Men’s Clay Court Championship – ATP Houston

Good and bad news for the Americans at the 2012 US Men’s Clay Court Championship.

The good news is that Sam Querry looked in good form.
It took only 58 minutes to get rid of Prodon and he is definately ready to play Kevin Anderson (if he can beat Souza) ni the next round.

Blake did not make. James is unfortunately at the end of his brilliant career and it looks unable to compete at his previous level. The former world nr.4, now ranked 74th, lost by the 6th seed (37th in the ATP ranking) in 3 sets in slightly more than 2 hours.
It was also a bit impressive the poor start and the grim end of the match where James lost the first 4 opening games.. and the last 6 (!!!)

Maybe… it’s time to let it go.. but it was a very exciting run…

Tomorrow Ryan Sweeting, the past year Champion, will start his run. Then It will be the time of the big guys: Fish and (the very big) Isner.
