Pico Monaco is back!
The former world no.10 spoiled the party in Houston after defeating home favorite Jack Sock 3-6 6-3 7-5. The “big drama” unfolded in the 3rd set when the Argentine squandered a 4-1 lead to concede 4 consecutive games to Jack. At that point, it was the American to miss the big opportunity to lose the following 3 games and allow Pico to win his first title of the season. This is the 2nd time that Monaco triumphs in Houston after 2012.
Ranked no.148, Pico will break back in the top100 after this week.
Since Delbonis won the title in Marrakech, this is the 1st time since 2009 that 2 Argentines win an ATP event in the same week (Nalbandian won Sydney while del Potro won Auckland).
