Defending champion Simona Halep is having another remarkable run at the Roland Garros.
The former world no.1 is now in the quarters, and she will play 17-year-old Amanda Anisimova after she defeated 6-1 6-0 Iga Swiatek that turned 18 a few days before.
Besides the challenge of playing these opponents for the first time, the Romanian has also the task to face players that are 10 years (or so) younger.
I feel old. SIMONA HALEP
When asked about facing younger players, Simona commented
“I feel old… very old. To play against someone 10 years younger than me, that’s not easy; they’re young, they have nothing to lose so every match is tough. When you face someone that is higher ranked than you, you don’t have, you know, fear. You just go and want to show your best tennis.
So I feel like they have this feeling all the time when they play with someone better ranked. But also, I take my advantage and I say that I’m experienced. So we’ll see.”
