While Kalinskaya battled Azarenka on court, Sinner, the reigning Australian Open champion and world No. 1, triumphed over Zhang Zhizhen in Halle to advance to the final there.
In a lighthearted moment during an interview after her victory, Kalinskaya was asked about her and Sinner’s simultaneous final appearances. She responded with humor and admiration, saying, “I’m just trying to be a little bit as good as him (laughing). I’m gonna text him now. I’m so happy.”
