Kyrgios wins 1st ATP title in Marseille

Finally, Nick Kyrgios!

The young Australian wins a rather stunning title in Marseille. Even if this was “only” an ATP250 event, the Australian impressed on how he has defeated back to back great players such as Gasquet (a trash), Berdych and Cilic.

In the final against the Croat, Nick had to battle only in the second set. After winning the opener 6-2, Kyrgios won the second set at the breaker at 3. The match ended after 85 minutes.

Kyrgios. I didn’t expect to win the title…

Nick commented “I played my first final last year and was looking for my first title. I didn’t really expect to win this title this week after having a couple of weeks off. But from the first round I started playing really well and just gained confidence as I kept winning matches.”

… I served well

Then the Australian added “I think I served really, really well again. I was serving really well all week. I didn’t get broken once. That was the main thing that was good. And I was able to put pressure on my opponents’ serves a lot when I was going through my service games really quickly.”

At 20 years of age, Kyrgios is the youngest 1st time winner since 2009. Time go for more…
