Cuevas stuns Nadal

Pablo Cuevas wins the most important match of his career in Rio (semi) against Rafael Nadal. The Uruguayan recovered a 0-1 deficit to win 6-7 (6) 7-6 (3) 6-4 in 2 hours and 28 minutes.

Nadal. I lost an opportunity

Rafa was quite dejected after the match to comment “I lost an opportunity, that’s it. I fought until the end. I have to accept it and keep working to try to change the dynamic. That’s what’s happening today and I have to work hard to change it.

I didn’t win a title, so it wasn’t a positive two tournaments. I had my chances in both. I lost in the semi-finals of both tournaments and just have to look forward to Indian Wells.”

Cuevas. I believed I could win

Pablo commented “I’m really happy because Rafa is a great player. I came out here thinking I could win, and I knew I had to stay relaxed, which I was able to do for almost the entire match.”

The final

Cuevas will play the final against a surprising Guido Pella. This is the first time they play each other.
