Stefanos Tsitsipas downs Filip Krajinovic 7-5 6-3 6-7(5) 7-6(6) in the 3rd round in Paris on Saturday.
The Match
Stefanos Tsitsipas had to work hard against the Serbian.
After Stefanos grabbed a strong 7-5 6-3 2-1 (1 break-up lead), it seemed as the Greek was poised to have a smooth ride to the 4th round of the Roland Garros. However, things got sideways and the Serbian won 4 consecutive games to lead 5-2. Stefanos made it even (5-5) before the match had to be interrupted at 9.52 pm because the French Open doesn’t have the illumination.
The day after, the match resumed and Krajinovic won the set at the tiebreak. Stefanos was struggling for most of the 4th set and Krajinovic was broken at love when he had the chance to serve out the set. Eventually, the affair went again to the breaker. The Serbian failed to convert a set point when he was 6-5 before Tsitsipas won the last 3 points to win the match 7-5 6-3 6-7 (5) 7-6 (6) in 3 hours and 34 minutes.
After this encounter, the head to head between Tsitsipas and Krajinovic is 1-0 for Stefanos.
