Murray demolishes Groth to get to the AO 3rd round

Too easy for Andy Murray that was (also) lucky to get Sam Groth in a “bad serving day”.

The Scot was a bit worried with playing the big server, but eventually Sam lost his biggest weapon for Andy’s delight. Murray won 6-0 6-4 6-1 in just 91 minutes.

Murray. He can serve better than that

Andy commented “I know he can serve better than that. He doesn’t just hit the big serves. He can use different spins and stuff. I think when he’s serving well he can make it very tough for guys, because he’s not that predictable with the serve. He changes the pace on it.

I think he actually is better from the back of the court than he thinks he is. I don’t think he maybe needs to serve and volley as much as he does, because from the back he hits the ball good as well.”

Groth. I had a bad day

Sam commented “Not ideal conditions for me. Had a bad serving day against the No. 2 player in the world. Probably not going to cut it.”

Next vs. Sousa

Andy will play Sousa in the 3rd round. Head to head is 6-0 for Murray that has surrendered just 1 set to the Portuguese so far.
