Tsitsipas beats Dellien in a four-set match

Sixth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas reached the third round of the French Open by beating Bolivian Hugo Dellien in a tense four-set match.

After losing the first set, the rising Greek star fought back to win with a scoreline of 4-6 6-0 6-3 7-5  in 2 hours and 49 minutes on Court Simonne Mathieu.

The Match

The 20-year-old had an early break in the first set but the world no. 86 won the 6th game to level at 3-3. Again he had a great 10th game to break Tsitsipas’ serve and win the opening set 6-4.

The second set was a breeze for the Greek star as he broke Dellien thrice to win the set 6-0.

Next set was again an easy one for the world no.6 as he broke twice in the set to win it by 6-3.

The Bolivian was leading 4-2 in the fourth set but he let the advantage slip. He however again showed his mettle and saved 3 match points in the 10th game to level at 5-5. The Greek won the next 2 games to win the set 7-5.

The next challenge for Tsitsipas will be either Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena or Serbia’s Filip Krajinovic.

The world no.6 is the 3rd Greek player to reach the 3rd round in Paris. Before him, Lazaros Stalios in 1936 and Nicky Kalogeropoulos in 1965 and 1967 made to the 3rd round of the tournament.
