French Open organizers cancel planned farewell ceremony for Rafael Nadal due to uncertainty about retirement and appearance. Tournament director Mauresmo plans ceremony as needed.

Rafael Nadal

The French Open organizers had planned a farewell ceremony for Rafael Nadal, but they decided to cancel it after Nadal expressed that he might not be retiring and that it might not be his last appearance at the French Open.

Tournament director Amelie Mauresmo stated that they are ready to hold a farewell ceremony for Nadal whenever he feels it is the right time to do so.

This decision was made out of respect for Nadal’s wishes and the uncertainty surrounding his future in professional tennis.

Amélie Mauresmo commented: “As you can imagine, we had something planned for him. But he wants to leave the door open so we’re not going to push him to do anything. It’s his decision when he wants to have a proper ceremony or proper goodbye and proper farewell. So we’re not going to do it this year.”
