Why Alcaraz’s coach Ferrero is sure Carlitos will win the Roland Garros

Carlos Alcaraz's coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, believed that the world No. 3 player might end up winning the French Open at least once.

Alcaraz With His Coach

Juan Carlos Ferrero, the coach of Carlos Alcaraz, stated recently that the Spaniard could ultimately win the French Open at least once. The 21-year-old advanced to the Roland Garros semifinals the previous year.

Alcaraz has advanced to the Argentina Open final four, the Australian Open, Miami Open, and Madrid Open quarterfinals, and he has won the Indian Wells Masters this season.

But a right forearm injury hampered his European clay court swing, and he missed out on major events like the Barcelona Open, the Monte-Carlo Masters, and the just-finished Italian Open. The Spaniard competed in the Madrid Open with his right arm completely bound up, despite his struggles with injuries. Before losing to Andrey Rublev, he reached the round of eight.

Alcaraz’s participation in the 2024 French Open was in question, but his recent appearance at Roland Garros resolved any fears. He recently had a practice session as part of his clay-court major preparations. He was observed getting some practice on his right arm using a compression sleeve.

Recently, Ferrero acknowledged the young Spaniard’s abilities and potential. Although Ferrero agreed that Alcaraz has performed best on hardcourts, he still thinks Alcaraz has a chance to win the French Open at least once in his career.

Ferrero expressed his remarks about Alcaraz in a recent interview and said: “Right now, I think that the surface that best suits his tennis is the hard court. Carlos has developed on this type of court, although we cannot believe that clay courts were where he was born. I think he will win Roland Garros at least once; he has the game to achieve it.”

Ferrero went on to say that Alcaraz’s capacity for open vision is one of his greatest qualities. To become one of the greatest players of all time, one must, in his opinion, possess this characteristic.

He added: “What I like most is that he always thinks big, not just small. To be one of the best players of all time, you must think big; there is no other option. We know that it will be challenging to beat certain records, but we are here to try and do the best we can.”
