The wild card recipients for the 2024 French Open have been announced, and some well-known players are not on the list.

Several Grand Slam champions, including Emma Raducanu, Simona Halep and Dominic Thiem, are not on the list.

Raducanu may be preparing for the French Open qualification event as she has reportedly withdrawn from next week’s WTA 500 event in Strasbourg, which is held during the same week as the French Open qualifying.

Thiem, a fellow US Open winner, wasn’t on the list either. After a difficult few years due to a wrist injury he sustained in 2021, the 30-year-old Austrian has announced that he will retire from tennis at the end of 2024. In his final season, Thiem will not be granted a wild card to the French Open, where he made it to the final both in 2018 and 2019.

After returning to the WTA Tour, Halep did not receive the wildcard either. This next week, Halep, who received a wild card to the Trophee Clarins on the WTA 125 circuit, will make her clay court debut for the first time in more than two years.
