Coco Gauff’s coach not happy with ATP policy on lines calling

In its announcement last year, the ATP stated that starting in 2025, Electronic Line Calling (ELC) will replace on-court line judges for all of its events. But Coco Gauff's coach is wondering why ATP is not proceeding with it sooner.

The ATP declared last year that Electronic Line Calling (ELC) will take the place of on-court line judges for all of its events from 2025. But Brad Gilbert, the coach of Coco Gauff, is questioning why ATP is not moving forward with it sooner in light of the controversy that erupted during the Monte Carlo semifinal match between Stefanos Tsitsipas and Jannik Sinner.

Gilbert sent a tweet expressing his displeasure with the ATP’s announcement that clay courts will use a line-calling system by 2025. Gilbert went on to highlight the implications of relying solely on human judgment when refereeing.

Gilbert wrote: I will say again there is time for @atptour to make it happen, why wait till 2025 for electronic line calling, that missed double fault in a 3-1 BP just shouldn’t happen, Sin City probably kicking himself he didn’t how did the umpire miss it to # dishevelled.”
