Nishikori still alive in London

Kei Nishikori rebounds in London after a terrible opening match (he lost 6-1 6-1 to Djokovic). The Japanese no.1 defeats Berdych 7-5 3-6 6-3 after a 2 hours and 23 minutes’ battle.

The Japanese was in firm command against the Czech after leading 7-5 2-0, but Tomas found his way back to win 5 consecutive games (5-2) to win the second set 6-3. There was no break in the decider till the 8th game when Berdych dropped his serve at 15. Match Stats.

Probably the key moment was when Kei saved a break point on a 3-all score-line in the 3rd set. Kei commented “That was a really big point. He had three, four shots that he went really aggressive. I was on the defense all the time. I mean, the last shot, I kind of went for it, closed my eyes. I was a little bit lucky I made that shot.”


How Nishikori can qualify

The Japanese will play Roger Federer in the last match of the round Robin. He needs to beat the Maestro to qualify for the semis, but that happens only if also Berdych upsets Djokovic in their last match.
