What a year for Flavia Pennetta! The Italian has won her 1st slam at the US Open, she will play the season’s finale for the 1st time (in singles) and… she is going to retire!
Flavia surprised everyone with an incredible triumph at this year’s US Open and now she qualifies for Singapore to comment “Qualifying for the WTA Finals is a dream come true and the perfect way to end to an amazing season for me. It will also be a wonderful way for me to say to say goodbye to tennis – it’s a spectacular stage to bow out on. Having won the WTA Finals before in doubles, I can’t wait to make my debut in singles.”
Pennetta qualified after reaching the 3rd round in Moscow (then she immediately conceded the walk over to Tsurenko.
Who qualified?
7 players have already qualified. The 8th spot belongs to Safarova, but the Czech has crashed ou tin the opened in Moscow. If Suarez-Navarro reached the final in Russia she will get that spot!
