Over the past few months, Carlos Alcaraz has been candid about the difficulties he faced finding enjoyment in his matches.

Alcaraz Talks About Criticism And Enjoyment On Court

Carlos Alcaraz has been open about his struggles to find enjoyment in his matches during the last several months.

Alcaraz revealed his recent troubles after defeating Felix Auger-Aliassime, acknowledging that he had struggled to stay honest with himself on the court despite the immense pressure.

Alcaraz said in his post-match press conference: “Well, I think for me, it’s a little bit difficult to be myself, let’s say, the last few months or the past few tournaments. I was trying to enjoy, let’s say, every match, every point, but it was difficult for me, you know, to stay there in high intensity, high level of pressure, let’s say.”

Alcaraz’s title drought has raised concerns about his form, and the problem has been made worse by social media fan criticism. He brought attention to how difficult it might be to handle remarks of this kind.

He said that to enjoy the excitement of competition, negativity had driven him to completely avoid such diversions.

He added: “It was difficult for me to deal with it, but I [am] trying to stay away from everything and try to, you know, enjoy the court. I think that’s the most important thing for me. You know, as I said many times, I’m a guy who sees a lot of the phone, and I see a lot of comments that people give to you. Most of them are really good ones, but a few of them are bad ones. You know, it’s difficult to deal with it, but, yes, that’s what I’m trying to do—stay away from everything, be myself, and enjoy every time that I step on the court.”
