Following his 17th consecutive victory on the ATP Tour, Jannik Sinner now holds the lead in the longest winning run in tennis history, upheld by an Italian player.

The Australian Open winner defeated Jan-Lennard Struff 6-3, 6-4 in the Indian Wells Open third round to extend his winning streak to 14-0 for the year. This victory keeps him unbeaten in 2024.

Sinner expressed his feelings after the win and said: “I feel like I have confidence in my shots. That’s why I work hard, trying to get a feel. There are good days and bad days. Today I felt really good on the court. Let’s see what’s coming in the next round.”

Sinner’s winning run of 17 games also includes victories from Italy’s Davis Cup final run, where the European nation claimed its first victory since 1976 with his three singles victories. Regarding Sinner’s winning run, 1976 holds particular significance since it was the year Adriano Panatta won 16 straight games.
