US Open champion Flavia Pennetta shocked the tennis world twice. 1st by winning the last slam of the season; 2nd by announcing during the ceremony her intention to retire from tennis.
So which tournaments is she going to play?
Flavia is expected to play till the end of 2015 to go also to Wuhan and Beijing. When asked if she would like to play the WTA finals, the world no.8 replied “If I have a chance, of course”.
Flavia is currently no.6 in the Road to Singapore rankings, so she definitely has a good shot at playing the finale.
Talking about her decision to retire she commented “if you don’t fight every week in the same way I did [in the U.S. Open final vs. Vinci], it’s gonna be like bad. I don’t feel to have this power anymore sometimes. So this is the perfect moment, I think. Was a really hard decision to make, but I’m really happy that I did it. I’m really happy and proud of myself.”
