Murray, Watson excited to play the Hopman Cup

Andy Murray and Heather Watson confirm that they are going to compete in the Hopman Cup in January to get ready for the Australian Summer.

Murray: Same conditions as Melbourne

Andy is very happy to play in Perth for a couple of reasons. First he likes the overall vibe; second the conditions are quite similar to the ones in Melbourne (ie. the Australian Open) “They [in Perth] have a great crowd there. The new centre court is extremely similar to Melbourne Park and Rod Laver Arena, so it’s great preparation for the Aussie Open.

The thing I like most about it from a preparation standpoint is that the conditions are extremely hot there… and also you’re guaranteed matches. You’re guaranteed to play three singles, three mixed matches, so you get time on court.”

Watson: I love to play for my country

Heather commented “I loved being on a team with Andy (in 2015). I didn’t really have to do much work because he did it all. He was just so fun to play with, very relaxed. I absolutely love playing for my country. Every opportunity I get I usually take it.”

In 2015 it was Poland to win with Janowicz and Radwanska.
