Lucie Safarova has reached a new career high (no.5) in the WTA rankings even if she didn’t have a great US Open (she crashed out in the opener). The Czech has managed to gain 1 position as Caroline Wozniacki couldn’t defend the points she gained last year after reaching the US Open final.
Unfortunately Lucie didn’t have a nice time to enjoy the new ranking as she has been hospitalized with a bacteria infection.
It was the Czech to break the news on Instagram to post “So happy to be rank #5this week! Unfortunately it’s been really hard month for me. Injury and now fighting bacteria infection in hospital!
