Andy Murray was worried about his match against Adrian Mannarino and he was definitely right.
The world no.3 had to recover from a 0-2 sets deficit to finally win 5-7 4-6 6-1 6-3 6-1. The Scot was struggling a lot has Mannarino didn’t give him a “normal” match with his uncharacteristic tennis (“French stuff”).
Murray: I am proud how I fought
Andy commented “I’m proud of the way I fought. It was not an easy match to come through at all. [He] was making it extremely difficult for me, as well. Thought he played some really, really good tennis. He has such an unorthodox game, I didn’t really feel that comfortable at many points out there in the match. But, yeah, I was happy, very happy with the way I finished the match stronger than him.”
Next vs. Bellucci
Andy will play Thomaz Bellucci in the 3rd round. Interesting enough head to head is 1-0 for the Brazilian that has defeated Murray 4 years ago in Madrid 6-4 6-2.
