Before her recent match in Brisbane, Yastremska revealed a very personal incident that stunned the entire tennis community. Despite the severity of the situation, the athlete is proudly representing Ukraine. She revealed that, shortly before she walked the court in Brisbane, a rocket hit her grandmother’s house.

Yastremska mentioned the immense burden of emotions she carried throughout her match. She expressed her thoughts about it and said: “It was hard to play. To talk about what’s going on in Ukraine, a couple of seconds aren’t enough. To talk about what’s going on in Ukraine, a couple of seconds aren’t enough. I’m proud of Ukraine. Proud of the people. Proud of the warriors. When I was in Brisbane, before my match, a rocket arrived at my grandmother’s house. It was hard to play. We need to remember and give as much support as possible to Ukraine. I’m proud to be Ukrainian.”
