Anderson wins Winston-Salem title

Finally Kevin Anderson!

The last time the South African has won a title was back in 2012 (Delray Beach). From that moment he has lost 7 consecutive finals (5 in rough 3 setters) and it seems he was a sort of “blocked”.  In Winston-Salem things were different also because on the other side of the court there was a surprising Pierre-Hughues Herbert (world no.140) that coming from the qualifications had to win 8 matches in 7 days!!! This time Kevin managed to get the title after defeating the Frenchman 6-4 7-5. Match Stats.

The South African commented “I’ve been in a few finals and come up short, which is always tough. Each final is a different situation, and for some reason it just hadn’t happened for me. Someone has to win and someone has to lose.

Maybe it’s a bit of an added pressure to be the favourite coming into the final, but he has been playing great to get here. In my mind we were completely even before the match.”

KEVIN SEEMS HAPPY…
