Nadal refuses to play Kyrgios at charity event (!?)

Nick Kyrgios doesn’t have many friends on tour. After his latest antics again Wawrinka almost everybody turned his back to the Australian and Rafa was part of them.

What happened?

Nadal and Kyrgios were meant to team up in at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy’s charity event, but at the last moment the line-up was rearranged and Nick was replaced by his (unlucky) mentor Lleyton Hewitt. Apparently Rafa didn’t feel to go on court and pretend to be happy with the young Australian at his side.

Eventually Kyrgios partnered with John McEnroe against Patrick McEnroe and Jonas Bjorkman (3 legends and 1 young gun? strange)

Nadal: Age is not an excuse

Few days ago Nadal had tough comments about Kyrgios’ behavior “I don’t understand very well why he said that. It is completely unnecessary. It is out of what a tennis match should be. Age is not an excuse. It’s just about respect. He was wrong.”
