Rafael Nadal recently shared an update on his injuries, which shocked the tennis world. Fans were disappointed to find out that the Spaniard was withdrawing from the Australian Open, even though everyone was expecting significant success from him in the upcoming season.

The news seemed to have shocked not just the fans but also the tennis community. Australian tennis player Nick Kyrgios came up to share his thoughts on the unexpected event shortly after Nadal announced his decision to return to Spain.

Discussions on Nadal’s setback in his recovery are now taking place among tennis fans worldwide. Nadal’s chances of competing in the Australian Open collapsed after an incredible comeback, after he sustained an injury in his Brisbane quarterfinal match.

Nadal expressed his feelings after withdrawing from the Australian Open and said: “I have worked very hard during the year for this comeback and as I always mentioned my goal is to be at my best level in 3 months. Within the sad news for me for not being able to play in front of the amazing Melbourne crowds, this is not very bad news and we all remain positive with the evolution for the season. I really wanted to play here in Australia and I have had the chance to play a few matches that made me very happy and positive. Thanks all for the support and see you soon! Rafa.”

Kyrgios tweeted in support of Nadal on X with caption: “Feel for Rafa man. Get better soon, that was the fear for me as well, coming back a little too soon.”

Despite having dealt with his fair share of injuries, Kyrgios seems to have good reason to feel sorry for Nadal after his unexpected setback. Kyrgios will miss this year’s Australian Open as well as last year because of a persistent knee issue.
