Vika Azarenka Talks About Being A Mother

In an interesting post-match interview at the Brisbane Open in 2024, Victoria Azarenka admitted that she couldn’t remember who she was as a player before becoming a mother. Her words also encouraged an uproar among the crowd.

Azarenka cruised through the draw and reached the quarterfinals of her first competition of the year. She easily defeated Anna Kalinskaya in the opening round of the tournament on Tuesday to start her campaign. She defeated Clara Burel in a tough match earlier on Thursday, January 4, winning 7-5, 6-2.

She gave a speech to the crowd following her victory over Burel, expressing her happiness following a fantastic start to the new season. Then something extremely special was brought to her mind.

It was at the same tournament fifteen years ago when she won her first WTA title. Azarenka was then asked to compare herself to the person she was then and now.

She responded with enthusiasm, acknowledging that she has her mother’s intellect. Azarenka admitted that becoming a parent had erased most of her pre-childhood memories, leaving her with little to none at all.

She expressed her feelings in the on-court interview and said: “I have a mom’s brain. Since my son was born, anything before that I don’t remember much. I think a lot of moms can relate to that.”
