Djokovic, Nadal, Murray reach the quarters in Montreal

Easy stuff for Djokovic, Nadal and Murray that reach the quarters with smooth straight sets wins.

Djokovic

Nole was in “Serbinator mode” to concede just 3 games to home favorite Jack Sock that had no weapons at all against the world no.1 Nole won 6-2 6-1 in just 54 minutes.

The Serbian commented “I did watch him many times before, but it’s different when you’re standing on the court trying to read the rotation, especially of his forehand because he’s got a very quick wrist, very quick motion, good forehand. I think the turning point was the 3‑2 game when I made a break. After that I just felt in control of the match.”

Nole will play Mad Max Gulbis in the quarters. Head to head is 5-1 for Nole.

Nadal

Rafa had another solid performance against Youzhny to win 6-3 6-3 in 1 hour and 42 minutes. Talking about his opponent Rafa said “He’s having a tough year, but he plays great here. When a player like him is playing well, is very dangerous. Winning four matches already in this tournament. If he can play like this, for sure he will finish the season in a higher position in the ranking. No doubt of that. Was a positive victory for me. I think I played great because he was playing at a good level of tennis.”

Rafa will play Nishikori for a place in the semifinal. The Spaniard leads 7-0, but Kei has a clear shot at beating him for the first time.

Murray

Easy stuff also for an in-form Andy Murray that defeated Muller 6-3 6-2. Murray commented “I thought I played a good match; I returned well. First game was important. I served a few break points there.

That kind of settled the nerves a little bit. I felt like I got a good read on his serve today… I was able to neutralise his biggest weapon, which is his serve. That was the key to the match.”

Andy will play Tsonga in the quarters. Head to head is 11-2 for Murray.
