Emma Raducanu will play in the 2024 Australian Open qualification competition, but she is one step closer to avoiding having to play in Melbourne straight after the ASB Classic next week.

With the Australian Open qualification taking place on January 8, Raducanu will make her tennis comeback in the first week of January at the ASB Classic. However, she won’t have much time to rest after being gone for almost a year.

However, Caty McNally has done her a favor by giving her a better qualifying seed or a spot in the main draw. Due to the American’s withdrawal from the main draw, Kamilla Rakhimova will now compete there.

Yafan Wang is up next, which means Raducanu just needs three more withdrawals to qualify for the Melbourne main draw. She may have to start her comeback the hard way since she faces the risk of meeting a well-known person who, given her position, will put her in the public eye.
