Croatian media outlets revealed how much money Goran Ivanisevic made coaching Novak Djokovic. Ivanisevic started collaborating with Djokovic in 2019, and in just 15 appearances, they had shared nine of Djokovic’s Grand Slam victories in addition to two finals.
The Croatian daily publication Nacional claims that Goran Ivanisevic, who coaches Novak Djokovic, receives a monthly salary of between €6,000 and €10,000. Ivanisevic’s yearly earnings are projected to be between €300,000 and €500,000 when these numbers are calculated for a full year.
Furthermore, Nacional says that every time Djokovic wins a Grand Slam, Ivanisevic gets incentives equal to 10% of Djokovic’s winnings. If this information is true, Djokovic’s three Grand Slam wins in 2023 would have given Ivanisevic almost €300,000.
It should be emphasized, though, that Ivanisevic and Djokovic have never discussed the Croatian’s pay in public. Considering that it is hard to inspire someone who has already achieved everything, Ivanisevic recently discussed the difficulties of coaching the 24-time Grand Slam champion.
Ivanisevic expressed his thoughts in an interview and said: “You always have stress. There are five of us in the team, but everything is always my fault. That’s how it is when you are a coach. On the court, people saw me as a savage or semi-savage, but I’m quite different off the court. I’m quite calm. No one believed that I could become a good coach. You need to know how to bury the ego. You don’t matter anymore. The player is important.”
He continued: “I am happy to train a genius, the best tennis player of all time and one of the best athletes in general. It’s unfortunate that only wins count. The final is not good, it’s like you didn’t even come to the tournament. It’s easier for me because we are from the same region. I understand a lot of the things he does and I’m prepared for them in advance. I did the same, but now as a coach I have to be more calm and composed.”
