The young Russian tennis player Mirra Andreeva is emulating tennis legend Maria Sharapova. The sixteen-year-old tennis player won the WTA Newcomer of the Year title. Indeed, Andreeva’s 2023 Wimbledon and French Open performances were outstanding. Andreeva received the same honor of being named WTA Player of the Year, nearly two decades after Sharapova did. Four other Russian tennis players received this honor before Mirra Andreeva.
