The ATP quadruple of Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, Holger Rune, and Ben Shelton has been named by tennis great Boris Becker as the young players to watch in the upcoming season.

The former tennis legend called Sinner a superstar and a significantly popular sportsman, noting that the Italian’s next major advancement will come from better Grand Slam results.

Sinner, who is currently ranked No. 4 in the world, is at his peak and has improved significantly this year. He concluded the 2023 season with a stellar 64-15 (81%) record.

The 22-year-old finished second in Rotterdam, Miami, and the ATP Finals in Turin, and he won titles in Montpellier, Toronto, Beijing, and Vienna. In addition, the Italian advanced to his first Grand Slam semifinal at Wimbledon and concluded his career by leading Italy to their first Davis Cup victory since 1976.

Becker stated his remarks about Sinner and said: “With Jannik Sinner, you can clearly see that he has improved in the last one or two years. He was always dangerous, but he now has a certain consistency and a relaxed attitude on the court, which allows him to stay true to his line and play tennis even in critical phases. This is the basis for the next big step. It has to be to get to the semi-finals or finals of a Grand Slam tournament and maybe even win it.”

He added: “He is a reserved, polite, well-mannered boy. Where else does that exist? He is a superstar, yet relaxed, reserved, and an incredibly likable athlete. You will also hear a lot in the coming year in conjunction with the trio Alcaraz, Rune, and Shelton.”
