During a match at the 2023 WTA Finals against fellow American Jessica Pegula, Coco Gauff made light of the windy weather in Cancun. Gauff provided an overview of the Cancun weather in a video that was posted on social media.
After that, in between weather delays, Gauff struggled with the wind as she sat down. Gauff is seen in the video holding onto an umbrella while being covered in towels. Gauff laughs, opening her eyes wide and watching as the device folds in on itself as the wind picks up.
Because of Cancun’s unfavorable weather, the match was anything but easy, even with the one-sided score. Stormy weather caused an hour-long delay to the start of the match, and there were two rain delays in the second set. Furthermore, the strong winds had an impact on the play’s intensity.
She said about the weather: “How is that possible? How windy it is here! The ball that is supposed to go out of the fence”

Coco Gauff showing how insanely windy the conditions are in Cancun.
They try to launch a ball out of the court & the wind brings it right back.
