Thiem wins the title in Umag

Dominic Thiem is rising and he is rising fast.

The 21-year-old had no problems to dismiss Joao Sousa in the Umag final 6-4 6-1 in just 62 minutes. Dominic is now the first Austrian to win the title in Umag after Thomas Muster (1995).

Thiem: I am really happy…

Dominic was elated for winning his 2nd title of the season and of his career (the first one was in Marseille) to comment “I am really happy about this week. I was able to improve my game in the semi-final and final. I didn’t make many mistakes today. It is really special to win here after playing juniors matches in this stadium.”

… now I need to go to Gstaad

Thiem will not have much time to celebrate “I will have a nice dinner with my friends tonight to celebrate. It won’t be a big party for me as I have to drive eight hours to go to Gstaad tomorrow.”

Dominic has gained 250 points and 80K euros. This was a good week indeed.

A GOOD DAY AT THE OFFICE
