EXPLAINED. Why Stefanos Tsitsipas is so happy of having his father back coaching him

Since Stefanos Tsitsipas started playing tennis, the father and son have practically been together, and it seemed as though Apostolos's presence boosted the Greek's brilliance.

Tsitsipas Wins

After going through a bit of a setback over the summer, Stefanos Tsitsipas has been appearing much more like himself in the last few weeks. And it appears that Apostolos, his father, was all that was required for him to join the group again.

Ever since Tsitsipas junior entered the world, the father and son have essentially been inseparable, but Apostolos’s presence has occasionally seemed to raise the level of the Greek’s game.

Tsitsipas was revitalized when he brought his father back into the team as the tour traveled through Asia and Europe. He advanced to the quarterfinals of the Rolex Paris Masters on Thursday, having previously advanced to the semis in Antwerp and Vienna. This achievement guaranteed his spot in the ATP Finals, which concludes the season, a record five times.

Tsitsipas told the reporters after beating Alexander Zverev on Thursday: “It’s been good, better, definitely better. I felt kind of unsure of what I was doing on the court for a long time. My father was not with me for the US swing, and to me, that was very foreign and unusual to not have my father be part of my team and my everyday planning and everyday training regime and schedule.”

He further added: “I felt like the structure and the habits that I’ve been following the last few years were not repeated, were not done on a regular basis. I wasn’t playing well, to be completely honest. I felt like it was a very good and valuable lesson for me to have that in my life, in my career, so I get an understanding of how my training works best, who are the people that would be a better choice for me to be surrounded by.”
