Daniil Medvedev congratulated Jannik Sinner after the match for the deserved title win and wished for an improved performance at the upcoming competition.

Sinner And Medvedev Stand Together

Daniil Medvedev failed to defend a title he had won the previous year for the first time in his career this time around as well. Jannik Sinner won the final against Medvedev at the ATP Vienna showcasing an impressive performance. With a 6-2 lead in the head-to-head match, the young Italian appears to have discovered a way to combat the former US Open champion. He also defeated him at the ATP 500 in Vienna, earning his 10th career title and defeating his opponent once more.

After nearly three hours of incredible blows and exhausted exchanges, Sinner prevailed in an exciting match by a score of 7-6 (7) 4-6 6-3. After the match, in an interview with the ATP on the court, Medvedev applauded his opponent and expressed his hope that he would be able to perform better at the ATP Master 1000 in Paris-Bercy, which is the next scheduled tournament.

Medvedev complimented Sinner after the match and said: “Congratulations, Jannik; it was a difficult match. At one point, I thought I could beat you, but I couldn’t. As I said before, I hope we can play more finals, even this season. Congratulations, you played great, finishing the year strong together with your team. I’m disappointed because I didn’t win, but the match was very good. I want to thank my team, Gilles. Another final, which is good, but not the best, but it is what it is.”

He added: “I am very happy to return. I hope to do it next year and win it again. Lastly, I don’t know if you know this, but I have this thing that I can’t defend the titles I’ve already won. I hope to do it here next time, but I also hope it happens in Paris or wherever.”
