After winning the Cincinnati Open and the US Open during the summer, Coco Gauff had 16 straight victories. However, that run came to an end on October 7, when she faced world No. 2 Iga Swiatek in the China Open semifinals.
The teenager and Swiatek were playing for the first time since Gauff broke her losing streak against Swiatek in her eighth match to win the Cincinnati title in August, so this match was much anticipated.
Gauff appeared to be struggling recently, as he was recently spotted working hard on the court in preparation for the next competition.

Until now, during this year Coco owns a composed 49-14 record. The American has won 4 titles in 2023 in Auckland, Washington, Cincinnati and U.S. Open.
