Novak Djokovic to play doubles at the Paris Masters alongside a fellow Serb

At the Paris Masters, Novak Djokovic and fellow Serb Miomir Kecmanovic will team up in the doubles competition. Novak Djokovic hasn't competed since taking home the US Open trophy.

Djokovic With Fellow Serbian

In the doubles tournament at the Paris Masters, Novak Djokovic and fellow Serb Miomir Kecmanovic will pair up. The top-ranked player in the world, Novak Djokovic, hasn’t participated in a competition since winning the US Open. Djokovic will be returning when the Paris Masters begins on October 30th, less than two weeks from now.

It is hardly surprising that Djokovic intends to participate in the Paris doubles event to get some extra action, especially because he has already skipped a month and a half without playing a formal match. This year’s Paris Open will mark Djokovic’s third ATP event in which he has participated in doubles play. Djokovic and Kecmanovic, 24, will be playing together for the first time in Paris.

Even though Djokovic hasn’t played for a few weeks, he still keeps working hard in his training. When he returns to action in Paris this coming week, Djokovic told Serbian media last week that he could require some time to settle into his rhythm and game.

He expressed his thoughts in a recent interview and said: “Preparations are underway for the final part of the season, I have three tournaments left to play. I’m looking forward to the challenges, I’m still in the race to finish No. 1, and with Alcaraz in that fight, there are still a few weeks, just enough to bring my game to the targeted level. Probably, that five-week break will affect the beginning a little, I hope that I will be able to overcome it as soon as possible and reach the targeted level and quality of competitive tennis very soon.”

Djokovic added: “Expectations are high, I had a lot of success in Bercy and I expect nothing less this year. My biggest wish is to win the Davis Cup, I hope we will be healthy and fit and I hope I can finish the year as number one and win at least one more title.”
