The legendary Roger Federer acknowledges that, despite his best efforts, it is tough for him to watch matches because of his busy schedule. Federer has a little more free time now that his stellar career came to an end in September of last year, but his children and all the other things going on in his life take up the majority of that time.
It doesn’t leave much time to watch lengthy tennis tournaments on the seat for several hours, and one of the great events he recently missed was Carlos Alcaraz’s dramatic four-hour, 42-minute victory over Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final.
In a recent interview, Federer said that while he was out and about with the kids, he only had time to catch a few games of Wimbledon.
Federer confessed this during a conversation and said: “I follow results almost daily. I like to see what’s going on out there. Mostly highlights, I maybe go on YouTube and check four or five-minute highlights to get a bit of a feel for the match a bit more. It’s hard for me to sit through matches, just because I don’t have the time to be honest. With the children and all the stuff that’s going on in my life, it’s hard to say like, ‘Okay, on that day, I will watch that match.”
He further added: “Like the Wimbledon final, I literally only saw a couple of games that day because we’re running around with the kids and doing stuff. Then at one point I quickly checked in just to say like ‘Okay, I saw the Wimbledon final a little bit. Of course, I was curious, I was checking the scores from time to time, but for me to sit down is hard. I was happy that the match was as great as it was and I love it when great stories come out of the game.”

Carlos Alcaraz in 2023
WWLWWWWWWW Ranked no.2, Carlos played his last match on the 11th of October when he was overcome by world no.19 Grigor Dimitrov 5-7 6-2 6-4 in the 4th round in Shanghai (draw).
Presently, during this year Carlos has managed to achieve an overall 63-9 match record. The Spaniard has won 6 titles in 2023 in Buenos Aires, Indian Wells, Barcelona, Madrid, London and Wimbledon. Carlos was the runner-up in Rio de Janeiro and Cincinnati.
He is also scheduled to play in Paris (Rolex Paris Masters) after Basel. The main draw will start on the 23rd of October.
Novak Djokovic in 2023
LWWWLWLWWW At the moment ranked no.1, Djokovic played his last match on the 15th of September when he overcame world no.25 Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-3 6-4 in the Rubber 2 of the Davis Cup (draw).
At present, during this year Djokovic achieved a 46-5 record. Djokovic conquered 5 titles in 2023 in Adelaide, Australian Open, French Open, Cincinnati and U.S. Open. Novak got to the final in Wimbledon.
Djokovic is scheduled to compete next in Paris (Rolex Paris Masters). He will start from the main draw that will commence on the 30th of October.
Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic faced off 4 times. The head to head is 2-2. Previously, the last time they played each other, Novak Djokovic won 5-7 7-6(7) 7-6(4) in the final in Cincinnati (Western & Southern Open) on the 20th of August 2023.
