Roger Federer has one of his great performances against home favorite Florian Mayer in Halle.
The world no2. had an inspiring start of match to serve a bagel (6-0) in just 18 minutes. Finally Mayer got into the match in the second set to bring the Maestro to the breaker. Eventually Roger’s tennis was too solid and the Swiss won 6-0 7-6 (1). Match Stats.
Federer: This week is going well
Roger is particularly happy with his tournament “I’m happy this week is going well. This was clearly a total different opponent to the first two. I got more chances off his second serve, I was able to get into rallies easier and I had a good serving day. I thought I played very well today. I think Mayer brings a different challenge to the table because of his shot-making.
He plays a different type of shots than other players do and I think I quite enjoyed that challenge. I had to focus very hard at the end to play a good breaker.”
Next vs. Karlovic
Roger will play boom boom Karlovic in the semifinal. The Croatian is huge challenge as he has just fired 45 aces (all-time record in a best of 3 match) against Berdych. Haed to head is 12-1 for Roger that is the favorite to reach the final.
