According to Emma Raducanu, her critics are still talking about her, and it is praise because it probably suggests she is valuable. After her results and form declined following her spectacular 2021 US Open triumph, Raducanu came under intense criticism and pressure.

Over the past year and a half, Raducanu has frequently heard or read about being referred to as ‘a one-slam wonder’. Most lately, Raducanu has heard claims that her injury pause won’t change much and that she will never rise to the top again. Raducanu underwent three surgeries in May and is anticipated to return in 2024.

Raducanu expressed her thoughts in an interview and said: “The fact they are still talking about me even though I’m not at these events is just a compliment. Someone told me ‘worry when they are not talking about you.”

After having surgery on her ankle and both wrists in May, she has missed three of the four Grand Slams this season. Despite only playing 10 matches in 2023, Raducanu returned to the practice court in August for the first time since having surgery in the hopes of regaining her form.
